This 600,000-ton-per-year gas-based DRI project was completed within an EPC duration of 24 months, with a total investment of 10 billion RMB. DRI production processes are generally categorized into those using H₂ as the reducing agent and those using C. Shaft furnace-based gas reduction is a non-melting DRI technology. While Midrex and Energiron dominate the current market, our proprietary technology offers a distinct optimized alternative for new clients, delivering multiple advantages. The production line incorporates the Energiron gas-based reduction process while integrating technical strengths from Midrex, including high metallization rate, high productivity, high energy efficiency, and superior DRI strength and density. It represents the world’s first hydrogen-enriched gas (coke oven gas) based direct reduction facility. The plant operates with iron ore feed of ≥65% Fe grade and fuel gas featuring a high calorific value of ≥3,000 kcal/Nm³. It demonstrates stable production and reliable operation, with both product quality and output meeting design standards. With CO₂ emissions as low as 250 kg per ton of reduced iron, it is positioned to become the world’s lowest-carbon industrial-scale DRI plant.
