Our Company Successfully Secures Upgrading Project for Calcined Dolomite Production Line of Bada Magnesium, a Top 5 Chinese Magnesium Producer; Reduction Furnace Modernization Also Under Discussion
Recently, our Domestic Business Department has received good news – we have successfully secured the upgrading project for the calcined dolomite production line of Shanxi Bada Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd., a benchmark enterprise in China's metal magnesium industry. The project has now entered the manufacturing phase. At the same time, we are in deep discussions with the client regarding the large-scale modernization of their reduction furnaces, with further cooperation expected.
Deepening Cooperation with a Magnesium Industry Leader
Shanxi Bada Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd., founded in 1997, is a large-scale enterprise integrating mining, primary magnesium smelting, alloy melting and recycling, and magnesium/aluminum alloy casting and wrought processing. The company has consistently ranked among the Top 5 metal magnesium producers in China for many years, with an annual production capacity of over 35,000 tonnes of primary magnesium and 25,000 tonnes of magnesium alloy. It is a national high-tech enterprise and a council member of the Magnesium Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association. In the sub-sector of vertical retort smelting, Bada Magnesium ranks first among private enterprises nationwide.
The calcined dolomite production line upgrading project we have undertaken is an important part of Bada Magnesium's ongoing efforts to improve equipment levels and promote green smelting upgrades.
Core Equipment Upgrade to Boost Output by 25–35%
This upgrade focuses on the key equipment of the calcined dolomite production line – the vertical preheater and the cooler. We will upgrade the preheater's pusher mechanism from 12 pusher heads to 16 pusher heads, while also enlarging the cooler. The vertical preheater is the critical equipment in the calcined dolomite line: before entering the rotary kiln, dolomite is preheated to about 800°C by the preheater using hot flue gas from the kiln tail, allowing it to absorb heat fully. Increasing the number of pusher heads means more material can be pushed into the rotary kiln per unit time. Combined with the enhanced cooler capacity, the entire production line will achieve a significant output increase of 25% to 35%.


Currently, all equipment for this project is being manufactured at our facilities and will be delivered and installed as scheduled.
Reduction Furnace Modernization Under Discussion; Exploring Process Innovations
While the calcined dolomite line upgrading project is progressing smoothly, our company is also in technical discussions with Bada Magnesium regarding the modernization of their reduction furnaces. The two parties are focusing on the feasibility of upgrading the current 630mm retorts to 820mm larger retorts.
Retorts are the core equipment in the reduction process of magnesium smelting; an increase in retort diameter directly impacts the charge volume per retort and output per furnace. Bada Magnesium has been actively promoting technical upgrades in the reduction process and has taken the lead among private enterprises in retrofitting vertical reduction furnaces, achieving significant energy saving and consumption reduction results. Upgrading from 630mm to 820mm retorts would further increase single-furnace capacity and energy efficiency.
In addition, both parties are also exploring the possibility of adopting a bottom‑tapping (or bottom‑discharge) magnesium production process. This innovative approach is expected to optimize the tapping operation and improve overall efficiency, representing an important direction in magnesium smelting process innovation.
