Beijing, April 15, 2026 – HBMER’s technical leaders recently participated in a high-level technical exchange meeting for a landmark 500,000-ton-per-annum integrated steel project in West Africa, reinforcing our commitment to delivering world-class direct reduction iron (DRI) solutions.

Mr. Tao, our Technical Director for Direct Reduction Iron and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Non-Blast Furnace Ironmaking Association (Direct Reduced Iron Association), together with Mr. Yan, our General Manager and a member of the Expert Group of the same association, attended the meeting. The discussions focused on the comprehensive development of a major steel complex in West Africa.

The project scope is extensive, covering:

  • Port construction

  • Iron ore mining

  • Pelletizing

  • Direct reduction iron

  • Continuous casting and rolling

  • Supporting facilities including a power station, oxygen plant, and lime plant

During the meeting, preliminary technical solutions were confirmed, including a 1 million-ton-per-annum grate-kiln pelletizing technology and a hydrogen-based shaft furnace direct reduction iron technology.
