HBMER Welcomes Indian Delegation to Showcase HPsmelt Technology for Green Steel Development

Xingtai, Hebei – HBMER, a global leader in direct reduced iron (DRI) technologies, hosted a delegation from India from February 27 to March 1, 2025, for a technical visit to its HPsmelt (formerly HIsmelt) demonstration plant – China's largest independent coal-based smelting reduction iron facility. The visit, accompanied by Mr. Kaye, Overseas Business Director of HBMER, featured in-depth technical discussions and plant inspections, highlighting HPsmelt's potential to address India's growing steel production needs while advancing green steel initiatives.

During the site visit, the delegation examined the operational HPsmelt demonstration production line and engaged in comprehensive technical exchanges with HBMER's engineering team, led by Mr. Wei, former HIsmelt Engineering Director at Shandong Molong and current CTO of HEBAZ HPsmelt. The Indian representatives expressed strong interest in HPsmelt technology, recognizing its high efficiency, low energy consumption, and environmental advantages as ideally suited to help resolve challenges in India's steel industry, including insufficient capacity, high energy consumption, and environmental impact.

As the holder of key patents in HIsmelt carbon-based smelting reduction iron technology, HBMER demonstrated HPsmelt's technical advantages, including its innovative process flow, advanced control systems, and significant reduction in carbon emissions compared to conventional steelmaking routes. The Indian delegation presented preliminary plans for establishing HPsmelt production lines in India, covering project scale, investment requirements, and expected economic and environmental returns.

Both parties reached consensus on long-term cooperation, with HBMER committing to provide comprehensive technical support and market development assistance. Through its integrated EPCO (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Operation) and financing services, HBMER aims to collaborate with Indian partners to promote the adoption of green steel technologies and support sustainable development of the local steel industry.

"This successful exchange demonstrates the global applicability of HPsmelt technology," stated Mr. Kaye. "As a leader in reduction iron technologies, we are committed to working with partners worldwide through our EPCO+Financing model to advance green steel production and help achieve environmental goals while maintaining economic viability."
